Roseland Surgeries: Important Vaccine News!
Dear all,
We have finally got the go-ahead to start phoning patients to book them for their 1st Covid-19 vaccination……the clinics will run from Wednesday 20th January to Sunday 25th January inclusive from 8 am to 8 pm.
That’s the good news……….we have been allocated the Pfizer vaccine which means that all vaccinations will have to take place from the designated hub site at Clays Surgery in Roche. This is a considerable distance over and above the government’s proposal of each patient being within a 10 mile radius of a hub site. However, we haven’t got any choice and despite the protestations of the practice, we have to accept that this is all we can offer for the time being. We are now starting the process of calling patients and trying to book them in, explaining to them that they will have to go to the Clays Practice (and remember, that will be twice as they’ll have to have their second dose there as well).
We have no idea when/if we will get our hands on any of the Oxford vaccine and if we do, we will then start a housebound vaccination programme with a roving nurse being chauffeured around the Roseland to deliver this vaccine safely to people in their own home, where they are unable to get out.
Patients over the age of 80 are being contacted in order to book appointments for the clinics next week.
Please do NOT phone the surgery, we will phone you!
Many thanks,
Nicola, Practice Manager
