We Saved The Ship Inn!

With the support of Veryan Parish Council and a dedicated team of activists and volunteers, a community driven program to save the Ship Inn gathered real momentum in early 2025.

The campaign first came about when St Austell Brewery announced it was going to sell the 18th Century ale house - much to the dismay of locals and visitors alike.

A community fundraising program attracted over 200 investors and, in the end, sufficient funds were raised to save the Ship Inn!

Portloe Community Benefit Society has purchased The Ship Inn, to serve the community and visitors. Their mission is to provide a warm welcome, good food and drink and overnight accommodation, for walkers and visitors by cliff, fields, road and sea - and judging by feedback to date - it is "mission accomplished!"
