Your Councillors

Local Councillors are elected by the community to decide how the council should carry out its various activities. They represent public interest as well as individuals living within the parish in which he or she has been elected to serve a term of office.

They have regular contact with the general public through council meetings, telephone calls and online.

Elections for the positions of parish councillors are held in May every four years. The Council of  Veryan parish is made up of eleven councillors.

These elections generally take place at the same time as elections for the next tier up of local government. Elections took place on 1st  May 2025 for councillors to Veryan parish. The elections took place on the same day as elections were held for councillors to Cornwall Council.

The persons elected to the parish council were:

Hannah Clark, Helen Couch, Luke Dunstone, Philip Garner, Lucy Goldsmith Cannan, John Leach, Victoria Ling, Jessica Strongman and Frank Trounce

There were 2 vacancies as a result of the uncontested election. The Co-option process to fill the vacancies was advertised and following interviews  2 successful candidates were chosen.

Candidates Sarah Carbis and Michaela Darby were welcomed as Councillors on 16th June 2025

At the annual meeting of the parish council on 13th  May 2025, Helen Couch was elected as the Chair and Hannah Clark was elected as vice chairman .
